Still Little Accomplishment

My Accomplishments

This week I only finished one lesson and still going to continue it on Monday since I was given 30 minutes to wrap up my discussion before they start preparing for their logo contest. My co-student teacher and I also picked one student for every section that we handle in representing their class for the essay writing contest.

My Significant Experiences

This week was a great fun because even though some of us have few lessons to teach we still did something. Since it is English Month, there are a lot of activities and as English teachers we have to facilitate some of the activities. During the spelling bee contest my co-teachers asked me to be the announcer?! Basta the one who read the words and the definitions while the other practice teachers and observers assist the contestants. It was a great experience because it was my first time and those words I've read was quite difficult (nosebleed pero nairaos naman: D). My co-teachers also asked me to facilitate the poetry writing so I read the guidelines and what type of poetry writing for the grade 7 and 8 and also read the topic for each level for the contestants. And my other companions’ facilitated the students who were excused for the spelling bee and tongue twister contest.  It was a great experience because we were at least a part of one of their activities. At least we have something to write in our activity form already. Hahahahaha Just kidding. Last Friday, I taught my two sections the new topic and my forth lesson. In my first section it was okay because they were somehow listening to me and participating but in my second section I got irritated because they were so annoying. They were insensitive that they don’t even dare to listen; it’s as if there is no one talking in front. And I was grateful that it was over so stressful, I want to kick them. But in the afternoon, because almost all of the practice teachers were at the attic doing nothing but sleep. And we, the English majors tried to play something after facilitating some of the activities. We tried to do also tongue twisters and spelling bee so while doing that some of the other practice teachers from different majors joined the spelling bee until they also gave questions to answer from the different subject. We decided to provide questions per major as a preparation for let review since we do not have something to do next week so it is a good opportunity for us to collaborate, have bonding with each other and of course to at least prepare ourselves in the upcoming let review after graduation. Let’s hope for the best! :D

My True Feelings!

Insight

Sometimes it’s hard to teach when you are not ready and don’t master the subject. But it’s harder to teach imbecile and insensitive students who do not even appreciate what you are doing for them. Instead of listening they prefer playing, making fun of their classmates, sleeping, gossiping and other irritating activities. They are a headache to me. I prefer staying in my extension program than teaching them. I want to give up but I was always telling myself to give myself a second chance to teach those kids. I don’t really want to compare but I prefer teaching in the public than in private. Because in public they respect us, they appreciate what we are doing and they don’t insult us when we commit mistakes instead they understand us, we are not perfect but we are trying our best to be a help. And   based on my experience, I am not happy right now. I am happier sitting and chatting with my co-teachers in our quarters rather than teaching them. No offense but it is what I feel right now.   

Walang Katapusang Problema

Problem

This week was a very stressful week. It’s as if I did not sleep for how many years. I was stress because of a very slow progress in finishing my 10 lesson plans and because of my insensitive students who actually don’t deserve my respect.

Solution

With the problem I am experiencing right now, I just have to be strict and be mad sometimes with my students to let them know how I feel. And for my lessons, well I need to wait for further instructions of my CT because even the other practice teachers don’t have lessons for next week so we can’t ask for help.

Requirements

My Goal

My goal for next week is to at least finish some of my requirements like field study and continue my journal in my extension program. And accomplish whatever my cooperating teacher asks us to do.
